Izmail is a city with a rich history. It has always stood at the crossroads of important trade routes. The history of Ishmael preserves memories of the campaigns of the Kiev princes to Constantinople: "Here, having closed the gates of the Danube, Yaroslav held court." The city had periods of prosperity as part of the Galicia-Volyn principality and sunset during the Tatar-Mongol yoke. Izmail remembers the Russo-Turkish war and the unprecedented Yasko-Kyshiniv operation. Izmail is famous for its shady streets, old mansions, wide avenues.
